label-type (PWE3 Trace test instance)

Function

The label-type command specifies a packet encapsulation type in the NQA view for PWE3 Trace test.

The undo label-type command restores the default packet encapsulation type.

The default encapsulation type is control-word.

Format

label-type { label-alert | control-word | normal }

label-type { { label-alert | normal } no-control-word }

Parameters

Parameter Description Value
label-alert

Indicates that the router alert label is encapsulated into packets.

-

control-word

Indicates that the control word is encapsulated into packets.

-

normal

Indicates that no control word or router alert label is encapsulated into MPLS Echo Request packets.

-

no-control-word

Disables control-word. This parameter is used for PWE3 ping.

If the device interworks with a device running an earlier version, specify this parameter in label-alert or normal mode.

Usage Guidelines

Usage Scenario

PW ping supports several detection modes as below:

  • Control-word: Supports single-segment PW and multi-segment PW detection.
  • An MPLS Echo Request packet carries the control word between the PW label and the IP header. After the destination device receives the packet and finds that it carries the control word, the device sends the packet to the CPU for processing.
  • This check mode only applies when you enable the control-word on both ends of a PW.
  • Label-alert: Supports only the single-segment PW detection.
  • An MPLS Echo Request packet carries the label-alert label between the PW and LSP labels. After the destination device receives the packet and finds that it carries the control word, the device sends the packet to the CPU for processing.
  • This check mode only applies when you enable the label-alert on both ends of a PW.
  • TTL: Supports single-segment PW and multi-segment PW detection.

    You must specify a TTL value to ensure that the destination device sends the packet to the CPU for processing after the TTL expires.

Precautions

If parameters need to be changed during the running of the test instance, the system prompts you whether to terminate the test instance. Press "Y" or "N" as required.

  • If you press "Y", the test instance is terminated and parameters changed. The settings take effect after being committed. To restart the test instance, run the start command.
  • If you press "N", the test instance keeps running, and the parameters fail to be modified.
