Usage Guidelines

Usage Scenario

Generally, a RADIUS server delivers IP addresses in the domain address pool to common DHCP Layer 2 users. If the delivered IP addresses are not in the domain address pool, users cannot go online. To enable common DHCP Layer 2 users to go online with IP addresses delivered by the RADIUS server but not in the domain address pool, run the access gateway unnumbered command to enable gateway unnumbered on a loopback interface.

Configuration Impact

Common DHCP Layer 2 users can go online with IP addresses delivered by the RADIUS server even if these IP addresses are not in the domain address pool.

Precautions

In VS mode, this command is supported only by the admin VS.

After gateway unnumbered is enabled on a loopback interface, you cannot perform the following operations:

  • Delete the loopback interface.
  • Modify the IP address or VPN ID of the loopback interface.
  • Run the undo access gateway unnumbered command on the loopback interface.
