The access ip-address delayed-release command configures a delay for IP address release when users go offline.
The undo access ip-address delayed-release command restores the default configuration.
By default, the user IP addresses are immediately released when PPP, DHCP, and L2TP users go offline.
This command is supported only on the NetEngine 8000 F1A.
Usage Scenario
For security or source tracing, if a carrier does not want the IP addresses released when users go offline to be immediately assigned to other users, run the access ip-address delayed-release command to configure a delay for IP address release.
Configuration Impact
If a long delay is configured and users frequently go online and offline, most IP addresses are in the delayed release state. As a result, users may not be able to go online within a period of time.
Precautions
In VS mode, this command is supported only by the admin VS.
