ais link-status

Function

The ais link-status command enables alarm indication signal (AIS) to monitor an interface.

The undo ais link-status command disables AIS from monitoring an interface.

By default, AIS does not monitor an interface.

Format

ais link-status interface { interface-name | interface-type interface-number }

undo ais link-status interface { interface-name | interface-type interface-number }

Parameters

Parameter Description Value

Usage Guidelines

Usage Scenario

In MD nesting scenarios, if the MEP of a low-level MD detects a fault, the MEP sends an alarm to the NMS. After a specified period elapses, if the MEP of a high-level MD also detects the fault, the MEP sends an alarm that is the same as the one sent by the MEP of the low-level MD to the NMS. In this case, the MEP of the high-level MD needs to be suppressed from sending alarms to the NMS. You can enable the AIS function for the low-level and high-level MDs.

To speed up the sending of AIS packets, run the ais link-status command to configure AIS to monitor interfaces. A MEP sends an AIS packet immediately after the monitored interface goes Down, instead of waiting for the timeout of continuity check messages (CCMs). This suppresses the MEP in a high-level MD from sending the same alarm to the NMS.

Prerequisites

  • An MD has been created using the cfm md command.
  • An MA has been created using the ma command.
  • The AIS function has been enabled using the ais enable command.

Precautions

In an MD:

  • Both inward- and outward-facing MEPs can receive AIS packets.
  • Outward-facing MEPs can send AIS along PWs, and inward-facing MEPs can send AIS packets along ACs.

Example

# Create an MD named md1, create an MA named ma1, and configure AIS to monitor GE 0/1/1 in ma1.
