Usage Guidelines

Usage Scenario

In a BD, each MAC address is unique in the BD, regardless of VLANs. MAC addresses are learned based on the BD. To differentiate users based on VLANs, run the qualify command to set the MAC address learning mode to qualify so that each VLAN has its own MAC address space. Then, the device learns MAC addresses based on the MAC addresses and VLAN tags of Ethernet packets. In this mode, each user VLAN forms its own broadcast domain and has its own MAC address space.

Prerequisites

A BD has been created or the BD view is displayed using the bridge-domaincommand.

Precautions

When the qualify mode is configured, member interfaces in a BD can only be in dot1q or QinQ encapsulation mode:

-In dot1q encapsulation, rewrite pop single cannot be configured.

-In QinQ encapsulation mode, the rewrite pop double command cannot be configured, and the ce-vid of QinQ encapsulation cannot be set to default.
