The route-select delay command configures a route selection delay.
The undo route-select delay command deletes the configured route selection delay.
The default delay-value value is 0, indicating that route selection is not delayed.
Usage Scenario
In a scenario in which primary and backup routes exist, packets may get lost after traffic switches back to the primary path from the backup path.
To configure a route selection delay, run the route-select delay command. After the primary path recovers, an appropriate delay ensures that traffic switches back to the primary path after the intermediate device completes refreshing forwarding entries. For networking details, see Configuration - VPN - BGP/MPLS IP VPN Configuration - Configuring IP+VPNv4 Hybrid FRR.Precautions
If the route-select delay command is run more than once, the later configuration overrides the previous one. If the route selection delay is reconfigured and the delay timer has started, the newly configured route selection delay will instantly take effect.
A route selection delay takes effect only on routes received from peers, not on the routes that are imported locally.<HUAWEI> system-view [~HUAWEI] ip vpn-instance vpna [*HUAWEI-vpn-instance-vpna] ipv4-family [*HUAWEI-vpn-instance-vpna-af-ipv4] route-distinguisher 100:1 [*HUAWEI-vpn-instance-vpna-af-ipv4] vpn-target 111:1 both [*HUAWEI-vpn-instance-vpna-af-ipv4] quit [*HUAWEI-instance-vpna] quit [*HUAWEI] bgp 100 instance a [*HUAWEI-bgp-instance-a] ipv4-family vpn-instance vrf1 [*HUAWEI-bgp-instance-a-vrf1] route-select delay 300
