The dhcpv6 option-37 any-format decode enable command enables the device to parse Option 37 of any format in DHCPv6 Solicit or Request messages.
The undo dhcpv6 option-37 any-format decode enable command restores the default configuration.
By default, the device can only parse Option 37 of specific formats in DHCPv6 Solicit or Request messages. Option 37 is composed of an enterprise number and a MAC address.
This command is supported only on the NetEngine 8000 F1A.
Usage Scenario
In DHCPv6 scenarios, Layer 2 relay agents insert Option 37 to the relay header of Relay-forward messages. When the device receives the Relay-forward messages, the device can parse Option 37. However, if Layer 2 relay agents insert Option 37 to DHCPv6 Solicit or Request messages instead of the relay header of Relay-forward messages, the device can parse Option 37 only if it is 10 or 16 bytes in length. To allow the device to parse Option 37 of any format in DHCPv6 Solicit or Request messages, run the dhcpv6 option-37 any-format decode enable command.
When this command is run to parse Option 37 in any format, Option 18 can also be parsed. If the Relay header does not contain Option 18, the device parses Option 18 in the DHCPv6 packet. If neither the Relay header nor the DHCPv6 packet contains Option 18 and the device is configured to trust Option 18 but does not encapsulate Option 37 into the Relay header in the version 3 format, the device inserts Option 18 into the Relay header in the new format.Precautions
In VS mode, this command is supported only by the admin VS.
