Function

The hwtacacs-user change-password hwtacacs-server command allows users to modify their passwords saved on a HWTACACS server.

Format

hwtacacs-user change-password hwtacacs-server template-name

Parameters

Specifies the name of the HWTACACS server template.

The value is a string of 1 to 32 characters. The characters can be letters (including A to Z and a to z), digits (0 to 9), dot (.), en dash (-), and underscore (_).

Usage Guidelines

Usage Scenario

By running this command, users can modify their passwords saved on the HWTACACS server. Password modification enhances network security.

Prerequisites

Log-in users are HWTACACS authenticated and the HWTACACS server template is configured.

Configuration Impact

If this command is run, users can be authenticated only if they log in again and input new passwords.

Precautions

Passwords fail to be modified in the following conditions:

  • Within 30 seconds, no username or new password is input, or the new password has not been confirmed.
  • Ctrl + C are input simultaneously to cancel password modification.

An HWTACACS-authenticated user can use the hwtacacs-user change-password hwtacacs server command to modify unexpired passwords. If another HWTACACS-authenticated user's password needs to be modified, the user must have the system-level authority.

Before the command level is not increased, the system-level authority is level 3 or higher. After the command level is increased, system-level authority is level 15.
