igmp static-group source dns-ssm-map

Function

The igmp static-group source dns-ssm-map command manually adds an interface to multicast groups to receive data from the multicast sources whose addresses are obtained through the DNS server.

The undo igmp static-group source dns-ssm-map command removes the configuration of manually adding an interface to multicast groups to receive data from the multicast sources whose addresses are obtained through the DNS server.

By default, an interface does not join any multicast group statically.

Format

igmp static-group group-address source dns-ssm-map

undo igmp static-group group-address [ source { source-address | dns-ssm-map } ]

Parameters

Parameter Description Value
group-address

Specifies the IP address of the multicast group that an interface statically joins. In batch configuration mode, this parameter specifies the initial address of the multicast group range.

The value ranges from 224.0.1.0 to 239.255.255.255, in dotted decimal notation.

source source-address

Specifies a multicast source address.

The address is in dotted decimal notation.

Usage Guidelines

Usage Scenario

If users want to receive multicast data for a group for a long time, the igmp static-group command can be used to configure the interface connected to user hosts to statically join groups. This allows the interface to rapidly respond to users' requests, thus reducing the channel switching time.

Prerequisites

The multicast routing function has been enabled using the multicast routing-enable command in the public network instance view or VPN instance view.

Follow-up Procedure

If a user host no longer wants to receive multicast data for a group that the user host statically joins, delete the static group configuration.

Precautions

If the device to which the interface belongs is a non-designated device (NDR) or Assert Loser, the interface is not added as a real PIM outbound interface. As a result, static traffic diversion fails.

If different multicast groups are configured in batches, the same multicast group address may exist. Overlapping of multicast group addresses is allowed.

After an interface is configured to statically join multicast groups in batches, do not perform deletion operations if the system has not completed the processing of the configuration.

When you run the igmp static-group group-address source dns-ssm-map command to obtain the specified multicast source address allocated by the DNS server, the configuration takes effect only when group-address is in the SSM group address range. By default, SSM group addresses range from 232.0.0.0 to 232.255.255.255. You can run the ssm-policy command to specify an SSM group address range.
