warning-threshold

Function

The warning-threshold command sets an alarm threshold for the usage of IP addresses in an address pool.

The undo warning-threshold command restores the default configuration.

By default, the alarm threshold for the usage of IP addresses in an address pool is 80%.

Usage Guidelines

Usage Scenario

When the status of IP addresses in an address pool is changed, the DHCP server re-calculates the address pool usage.

The address status is divided into the following types:

  • idle: The IP address is available for allocation.
  • used: The IP address has been allocated.
  • conflict: The IP address is in conflict with another.
  • disable: The IP address is disabled.
  • static-bind: The IP address is for static allocation.

Address pool usage = Number of non-idle IP addresses/Total number of IP addresses

If the address pool usage exceeds the threshold specified using the warning-threshold command, the system generates the alarm DHCPSERVER_1.3.6.1.4.1.2011.6.8.2.2.0.6_hwUsedIPReachThreshold, asking the administrator to plan IP addresses in order to prevent client online failures due to IP address exhaustion. If the address pool usage falls below 90% of the threshold, the clear alarm DHCPSERVER_1.3.6.1.4.1.2011.6.8.2.2.0.7_hwUsedIPReachThresholdResume is generated.

Precautions

After the command is run repeatedly in the same view, the latest configuration overrides the previous configurations.

An address pool can be bound to multiple domains. The usage of IP addresses in the address pool will be changed regardless of which domain is allocated with IP addresses in the address pool.

To enable an alarm to be generated when the address pool is exhausted, run the warning-exhaust command.

# Set the alarm threshold to 85% for the usage of IP addresses in an address pool named huawei.
