Usage Guidelines

Usage Scenario

A Layer 2 multicast instance is used to associate a multicast instance with one or more user instances. The multicast and user instances can be VLANs or VSIs. After one or more Layer 2 multicast instances are configured on a Layer 2 device, the device requests for only one copy of a multicast group's data for all users in different VLANs or VSIs that are interested in the data, not a copy for each VLAN or VSI, from the upstream device. Such implementation helps reduce bandwidth consumption. To configure a Layer 2 multicast instance, run the l2-multicast instance command.

Prerequisites

IGMP snooping has been enabled using the igmp-snooping enable command in the system view.

Example

# Create a Layer 2 multicast instance.
