Usage Scenario
If a user joins a multicast group in the any-source multicast (ASM) range but wants to enjoy the SSM service of the multicast group, run the mld-snooping ssm-policy command to add the multicast group address to an SSM policy.
Prerequisites
A basic ACL6 or named ACL6 has been configured.
Configuration Impact
After the command is run, the group addresses defined in <BASIC-ACL6-NUMBER> or acl6-name <ACL6-NAME> are added to the SSM group address range. The specified group addresses can be beyond the default SSM group address range of FF3x::/32. Users with group addresses out of the SSM group address range can only enjoy ASM services if the group addresses are not added to the SSM range policy.
Precautions
If a multicast group address is added to the SSM group address range and MLDv1 users use this multicast address to receive SSM multicast services, the device does not delete the mapping (S, G) entry when it receives an MLDv1 Done message for this group. The (S, G) entry can be deleted through the multicast entry aging mechanism or can be deleted when the multicast device receives an MLDv2 Done message for this group.
The
mld-snooping ssm-policy command fails to be run in a VSI view in the following condition:
- The VSI is bound to a BD.
