Usage Guidelines

Usage Scenario

To configure an MVPN IPv6 ID, run the multicast ipv6 mvpn ipv6-underlay command. The MVPN IPv6 ID is the IP address of the start PE. An MVPN IPv6 ID has the following functions:

  • Specifies the value of the Originator router's IP address field in an A-D route.
  • Is used as the value of the Administrator field in the VRF Route Import Extended Community attribute carried in EVPN routes. If the multicast ipv6 mvpn ipv6-underlay command is not run, a PE does not send A-D routes and EVPN routes do not carry the VRF Route Import Extended Community attribute.

Example

# Configure the MVPN IPv6 ID as 2001:db8:1::1.
