Usage Guidelines

Usage Scenario

To configure an MVPN IPv6 ID, run the multicast mvpnipv6-underlay command. The MVPN IPv6 ID is the IP address of the originator provider edge (PE) in an MVPN. An MVPN ID can be used as:

  • Originator router's IP address field value in auto-discovery (A-D) routes.
  • Administrator field value in the VRF Route Import Extended Community attribute in BGP VPNv4 routes. If the multicast ipv6 mvpn command is not run, PEs do not send A-D routes, and BGP VPNv4 routes do not carry the VRF Route Import Extended Community attribute.

Example

# Configure the MVPN IPv6 ID as 2001:db8:1::1.
