network-slice protocol-number

Function

The network-slice protocol-number command specifies the protocol number in the IPv6 header of a network slice.

The undo network-slice protocol-number command restores the protocol number in the IPv6 header of a network slice.

By default, the protocol number in the IPv6 header of a network slice is 0.

Format

Usage Guidelines

Usage Scenario

This command can be used to specify the protocol number of a network slice in the IPv6 header so that packets can be transparently transmitted on devices that do not support network slicing.

protocol-number number affects the value of the Next Header field in the IPv6 packet header. This field indicates that the next packet header is the Hop-by-Hop Options header (HBH).

  • If all devices support network slicing, skip this step and use the default protocol number 0. In this way, all devices can identify the HBH and import packets to the specified slicing interface.
  • If the intermediate forwarding node does not support network slicing, the protocol number needs to be configured on other devices. In this way, the intermediate device transparently transmits IPv6 packets without performing network slicing. In this scenario, this command must be configured. Otherwise, the intermediate node fails to forward packets.

Example

# Set the protocol number in the IPv6 header of a network slice to 160.
