TCP/4/SOCKET_TCP_PACKET_MD5_AUTHEN_FAIL

Message

TCP/4/SOCKET_TCP_PACKET_MD5_AUTHEN_FAIL: TCP MD5 authentication failed. (tcpConnLocalAddress=[tcpConnLocalAddress], tcpConnLocalPort=[tcpConnLocalPort], tcpConnRemAddress=[tcpConnRemAddress], tcpConnRemPort=[tcpConnRemPort], hwTCPProtocol=[hwTCPProtocol], hwTCPVrfName=[hwTCPVrfName])

Description

MD5 authentication for TCP connection setup failed.

Parameters

Parameter Name Parameter Meaning

tcpConnLocalAddress

IP address of the local end of a TCP connection

tcpConnLocalPort

Port number of the local end of the TCP connection

tcpConnRemAddress

Destination IP address of the TCP connection

tcpConnRemPort

Port number of the peer end of the TCP connection

hwTCPProtocol

Name of an upper layer application protocol

hwTCPVrfName

Name of virtual routing and forwarding (VRF)

Possible Causes

Cause 1: The MD5 passwords on both ends of the TCP connection were inconsistent.

Cause 2: Only one end of the TCP connection was configured with an MD5 password.

Procedure

1. Run the display current-configuration command on both ends of the TCP connection to check whether an MD5 password is configured.

  • If an MD5 password is configured on only one end, configure the same MD5 password on the other end. If MD5 authentication still fails, go to Step 3. If MD5 authentication succeeds, go to Step 4.
  • If both ends are configured with an MD5 password but the passwords are different, go to Step 2.

2. Change the MD5 passwords on both ends to be consistent. If MD5 authentication still fails, go to Step 3. If MD5 authentication succeeds, go to Step 4.

3. Collect trap, log, and configuration information, and contact technical support personnel.

4. End.
