Parameters

Parameter Name Parameter Meaning

IfIndex

Interface index.

EventLogIndex

Index of ta printed log.

EventLogTimestamp

Timestamp that records when an event occurred.

EventLogOui

Name of an outbound interface of an event.

EventLogType

Type of an event.

EventLogLocation

Where the event occurs, on the local or remote end (1 indicates local end, 2 indicates peer end).

EventLogWindowHi

High-order value of a monitoring interval.

EventLogWindowLo

Low-order value of a monitoring interval.

EventLogThresholdHi

High-order value of the threshold of a monitoring interval.

EventLogThresholdLo

Low-order value of the threshold of a monitoring interval.

EventLogValue

Number of times that a threshold-crossing event occurs.

EventLogRunningTotal

Number of event occurrences.

EventLogEventTotal

Number of event notifications.

IfName

Interface name.

Possible Causes

Cause 1: The user configured the efm error-code threshold 0, efm error-frame threshold 0, efm error-frame-period threshold 0, or efm error-frame-second threshold 0 command on the interface.

Cause 2: The physical link became faulty, causing the error frame or error code.

Procedure

1. Check the value of the EventLogType field in the trap:

  • 1: an errored code alarm. Then go to 2.
  • 2: an errored frame alarm. Then go to 3.
  • 4: an errored frame second alarm. Then go to 4.
  • 3: an errored frame period alarm. Then go to 5.

2. Run the display this command in the interface view. Check whether the efm error-code threshold 0 command is displayed in the command output.

  • If this command is displayed, go to 7.
  • If this command is not displayed, go to 6.

3. Run the display this command in the interface view. Check whether the efm error-frame threshold 0 command is displayed in the command output.

  • If this command is displayed, go to 8.
  • If this command is not displayed, go to 6.

4. Run the display this command in the interface view. Check whether the efm error-frame-second threshold 0 command is displayed in the command output.

  • If this command is displayed, go to 9.
  • If this command is not displayed, go to 6.

5. Run the display this command in the interface view. Check whether the efm error-frame-period threshold 0 command is displayed in the command output.

  • If this command is displayed, go to 10.
  • If this command is not displayed, go to 6.

6. Check whether a physical link fails.

  • If the physical link is working properly, go to 11.
  • If the physical link fails, go to 12.

7. Run the efm error-code threshold threshold command in the interface view to set the EFM errored code detection threshold for the interface. Check whether a new event is continuously reported.

  • If a new event is continuously reported, go to 12.
  • If no new event is continuously reported, go to 13.

8. Run the efm error-frame threshold threshold command in the interface view to set the EFM errored frame detection threshold for the interface. Check whether a new event is continuously reported.

  • If a new event is continuously reported, go to 12.
  • If no new event is continuously reported, go to 13.

9. Run the efm error-frame-second threshold threshold command in the interface view to set the EFM errored frame seconds detection threshold for the interface. Check whether a new event is continuously reported.

  • If a new event is continuously reported, go to 12.
  • If no new event is continuously reported, go to 13.

10. Run the efm error-frame-period threshold threshold command in the interface view to set the EFM errored frame seconds detection threshold for the interface. Check whether a new event is continuously reported.

  • If a new event is continuously reported, go to 12.
  • If no new event is continuously reported, go to 13.

11. Rectify the physical link fault and check whether a new event is continuously reported.

  • If a new event is continuously reported, go to 12.
  • If no new event is continuously reported, go to 13.

12. Collect log information and configuration information, and then contact technical support personnel.

13. End.
