Locating Alarm and Event Traps

This manual describes the alarm traps and event traps. You can find the specific traps by the following ways:
  • Use the Network Management System (NMS).
  • Run the display trapbuffer [ size buffersize ] command. Traps will be displayed in the trap buffer.

The maximum number of traps that can be displayed in the trap buffer is determined by buffersize. If the number of traps is less than the value specified by buffersize, the actual number of traps will be displayed.

The following tips can help you to find the specific traps quickly.

Alarm information is displayed on the terminal screen through the Monitor or Console channel. The format of alarm information displayed on the screen is different from that of the alarm log recorded in the log buffer and of the alarm trap recorded in the trap buffer. However, the information content is the same.

The Alarm or Event field in the Trap attribute helps you distinguish an alarm from an event. An alarm ID uniquely identifies an alarm. You are advised to locate the description and handling procedure of an alarm by searching for its ID in the manual.
