Configuring the IP Address of the Inbound Interface for Forwarding Packets as the Source Address of an ICMP Time Exceeded Message Forcibly

To easily observe the inbound interface of a device along the path, you can configure the IP address of the inbound interface for forwarding packets as the source address of an ICMP Time Exceeded message.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run ip icmp ttl-exceeded source-address ingress-interface

    The IP address of the inbound interface for forwarding packets is forcibly configured as the source address of an ICMP Time Exceeded message.

  3. Run commit

    The configuration is committed.
