Enabling BGP to Discard New Routes If a Memory Exception Occurs

After BGP is enabled to discard new routes, BGP will discard the new routes received from peers in the case of a memory exception on the device.

Context

Usage Scenario

If BGP keeps accepting new routes when the device memory is abnormal, the device memory may be exhausted. As a result, the involved process or board is reset. To prevent this problem, you can enable BGP to discard new routes if a memory exception occurs.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run bgp memory-usage exception-threshold discard new-route

    BGP is enabled to discard new routes if a memory exception occurs.

  3. Run commit

    The configuration is committed.
