This section describes MAC flapping-based loop detection supported by the NetEngine 8000 F in terms of its configurations.
After MAC flapping-based loop detection is deployed on a virtual private LAN service (VPLS) network, a device can detect a loop based on the frequency of MAC address entry flapping. Then, the device blocks an AC-side interface or a PW based on the configured blocking policy and generates an alarm, or the device just generates an alarm, depending on user configurations (AC is short for attachment circuit).
The configuration roadmap is as follows:
Enable MAC flapping-based loop detection on devices so that they can detect loops based on MAC address entry flapping and block interfaces or PWs to eliminate the loops.
Configure a blocking policy for interfaces or PWs.
