Enabling a QinQ/Dot1q VLAN Tag Termination Sub-interface to Forward Single-Tagged PIM Messages

If a QinQ/dot1q VLAN tag termination sub-interface of a local device is connected to a device that sends single-tagged PIM messages, enable the sub-interface to forward single-tagged PIM messages. Otherwise, the communication failures.

Context

If a QinQ/dot1q VLAN tag termination sub-interface on the router is connected to a downstream router that sends single-tagged PIM messages, the sub-interface discards the PIM messages by default.

To resolve this issue, enable the QinQ/dot1q VLAN tag termination sub-interface to forward single-tagged PIM messages.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run multicast routing-enable

    Multicast routing is enabled.

    Running the undo multicast routing-enable command deletes all multicast configurations and interrupts multicast services. To restore the multicast services, you must revert the deleted multicast configurations.

  3. Run interface interface-type interface-number.subinterface-number

    The sub-interface view is displayed.

  4. Run pim single-tag forward enable

    The QinQ/dot1q VLAN tag termination sub-interface is enabled to forward single-tagged PIM messages.

  5. Run commit

    The configuration is committed.
