Enabling a QinQ/Dot1q VLAN Tag Termination Sub-interface to Forward Single-Tagged IPv6 PIM Messages

If a QinQ/dot1q VLAN tag termination sub-interface of a local device is connected to a device that sends single-tagged IPv6 PIM messages, enable the sub-interface to forward single-tagged IPv6 PIM messages. Otherwise, the communication failures.

Context

If a QinQ/dot1q VLAN tag termination sub-interface on the router is connected to a downstream router that sends single-tagged IPv6 PIM messages, the sub-interface discards the IPv6 PIM messages by default.

To resolve this issue, enable the QinQ/dot1q VLAN tag termination sub-interface to forward single-tagged IPv6 PIM messages.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run multicast ipv6 routing-enable

    IPv6 Multicast routing is enabled.

Running the undo multicast ipv6 routing-enable command deletes all IPv6 multicast configurations and interrupts IPv6 multicast services. To restore the IPv6 multicast services, you must revert the deleted IPv6 multicast configurations.

  3. Run interface interface-type interface-number.subinterface-number

    The sub-interface view is displayed.

  4. Run pim ipv6 single-tag forward enable

The QinQ/dot1q VLAN tag termination sub-interface is enabled to forward single-tagged IPv6 PIM messages.

  5. Run commit

    The configuration is committed.
