Application Scenarios for AAA and User Management

Access User Management Through RADIUS

Figure 1 shows the application of access user management through RADIUS. Users A, B, and C belong to the same domain and access the Internet through a router. The router selects a RADIUS server to authenticate the users based on their user domain. If the users pass authentication, they are free to access the Internet.

Access User Management Through HWTACACS

Figure 2 shows the application of access user management through HWTACACS. Users A and C belong to the same domain and access the Internet through a router. The router selects a HWTACACS server to authenticate the users based on their user domain. If the users pass authentication, they are free to access the Internet.

User B is an administrator (you need to log in to the router to configure an administrator). HWTACACS is adopted to manage user B for high security. HWTACACS authorization can be performed for each command that is configured by user B on the router or when user B requires a higher authority.
