Overview of TTY

Terminal type (TTY), also called terminal service, provides access interfaces and human machine interfaces (HMIs) for you to configure routers. TTY supports the following ports:
  • Console port
  • Virtual type terminal (VTY) port

Routers support user login over console or VTY ports. You can use a console port to set user interface parameters, such as the speed, databits, stopbits, and parity. You can also initiate a Telnet or Secure Shell (SSH) session to log in to a VTY port.

Routers do not support user login over AUX ports.
