Development of the VRP

Five VRP versions have been developed: VRP1, VRP2, VRP3, VRP5, and VRP8. The following figure illustrates their main functions.

The VRP5 is a distributed network operating system and features high extensibility, reliability, and performance. Currently, network devices running VRP5 are serving more than 50 carriers worldwide. The VRP5 provides various features and its stability has withstood the market test.

The VRP8 is a next-generation network operating system, which has a distributed, multi-process, and component-based architecture. The VRP8 supports distributed applications and virtualization techniques. It builds upon the hardware development trend and will meet carriers' exploding service requirements for the next five to ten years.
