The carrier plans the logical hard network on the existing IP bearer network and reserves the hard pipe bandwidth on physical interfaces.
On the network shown in Figure 1, an enterprise user wants to establish a leased line between two sites over a carrier's network. The carrier first plans a path and then establishes a static bidirectional LSP dedicated to the hard pipe over the path. The PEs then establish a hard-pipe-based static PW. Bandwidth is reserved hop by hop along the path. If Ethernet links that share bandwidth are used for user access, configure QoS on AC interfaces to limit the access bandwidth. Subsequently, a hard-pipe-based enterprise leased line is established. If the hard pipe bandwidth is inadequate, the NMS does not allow the static PW to be established.
