Parameters

oid Indicates the MIB object ID of the alarm.
VcmpDeviceMac MAC address of a conflicting server.

Impact on the System

If this trap is displayed, more than one VCMP server exists in a VCMP domain. VCMP clients learn VLAN information sent by all VCMP servers. For example, there are two VCMP servers in a VCMP domain. VLAN 10 is created on one VCMP server and deleted from the other VCMP server. The VCMP clients in the same VCMP domain create and the delete VLAN 10, which causing a communication failure.

Possible Causes

The VCMP configuration is incorrect.

Procedure

  1. Run the display vcmp status command on each device in the VCMP domain to view the Role field. Check whether more than one device functions as the VCMP server.

    • If only a single device functions as the VCMP server, go to 3.

    • If more than one device functions as the VCMP server, go to 2.

  2. Run the vcmp role { client | silent | transparent } command on a VCMP server to change its role to a non-server device. Check whether the trap is cleared.

    • If the trap is cleared, go to 4.

    • If the trap persists, go to 3.

  3. Collect the alarm, log, and configuration information, and then contact technical support personnel.
  4. End.
