Configuring ARP Unicast Probe
Context
On some special networks, user terminals do not accept broadcast packets to ensure network security. Therefore, these user terminals directly discard the received broadcast ARP Request packets, and other devices on the networks cannot learn the ARP entries.
To resolve this problem, configure ARP unicast probe enabling the device to send a unicast ARP Request packet to detect whether user terminals exist
Procedure
- Run the arp send-packet ip-address mac-address interface interface-type interface-number [ vid vid [ cevid cevid ] ] command in any view to configure ARP unicast probe.
After ARP unicast probe is configured, the device sends a unicast ARP Request packet.
The cevid cevid parameter can be specified on the S5720-EI, S5720-HI, S5730-HI, S5731-H, S5731-S, S5731S-H, S5731S-S, S5732-H, S6720-EI, S6720-HI, S6720S-EI, S6730-H, S6730S-H, S6730-S, and S6730S-S.
