Why Is a High Temperature Alarm Generated and How Can I Clear It?

Possible Causes

  • Air ventilation around the device is insufficient or obstructed.

  • The ambient temperature of the device is too high.

  • The number of fans on the device is insufficient.

  • A fan on the device is faulty.

  • The chip temperature is too high.

Troubleshooting Procedure

  1. Clean the air vent and check whether the alarm is cleared.

    If the fault persists, go to step 2.

  2. Check whether the air filter is blocked.

    Clean the air filter and remove any objects that obstruct the intake and exhaust vents.

    If the fault persists, go to step 3.

  3. Check whether all vacant slots are covered with filler panels.

    Ensure that all vacant slots are covered with filler panels.

    If the fault persists, go to step 4.

  4. Check whether the ambient temperature of the device is too high.

    If the ambient temperature is too high, take appropriate measures to lower the temperature.

    If the fault persists, go to step 5.

  5. Check whether fans are installed in the fan slots.

    Add more fans if fan slots are available.

    If the fault persists, go to step 6.

  6. Check whether a fan is faulty.

    Run the display fan command to check the status of fans and replace any faulty fans.

    If the fault persists, go to step 7.

  7. Check the chip temperature of cards.

    Run the display temperature all command to view the chip temperature of each card on the device and take appropriate measures if required.

    If the fault persists, go to step 8.

  8. Collect the following information and contact Huawei technical support:

    • Results of the preceding troubleshooting procedure
    • Configuration file, logs, and alarms of the device

Determining Whether a High Temperature Alarm Is Cleared

  1. This alarm is not displayed on the NMS.
  2. This alarm is not displayed when you run the display trapbuffer command to view the trap buffer.
  3. This alarm is not displayed when you run the terminal monitor and terminal trapping commands to view alarm information.
