Configuring Mutual Access Between Local VPNs

Context

Mutual access between local VPNs can be used to implement data communication between different VPN sites connected to the same PE device.

Mutual access between local VPNs is a basic BGP/MPLS IP VPN networking mode. It uses VPN target attributes to control advertisement of VPN routing information between sites, ensuring that different VPN sites connected to the same PE device can communicate.

Generally, each VPN has its own VPN target. On the network shown as follows, the import target and export target of VPNA are 100:1, whereas the import target and export target of VPNB are 200:1. To enable mutual access between users in VPNA and VPNB, mutual access between local VPNs can be configured and the import targets 200:1 and 100:1 need to be added to VPNA and VPNB respectively.

When the device supports MCE only, it does not support mutual access between local VPNs. For details on support for BGP/MPLS IP VPN, see Licensing Requirements and Limitations for BGP/MPLS IP VPN.
