(Optional) Configuring the Router-Alert Option

Context

By default, the switch does not check for the Router-Alert option in MLD packets and sends all MLD packets to the upper-layer routing protocol. Checking the Router-Alert option improves system performance, reduces route costs, and enhances network security. MLD packets that do not contain the Router-Alert option are discarded.

By default, the switch sends MLD packets with the Router-Alert option.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run vlan vlan-id

    The VLAN view is displayed.

  3. Run mld-snooping require-router-alert

    The switch is configured to check for the Router-Alert option in MLD packets.

  4. Run mld-snooping send-router-alert

    The switch is configured to send MLD packets with the Router-Alert option.
