Overview of Monitoring Interfaces

Definition

Monitoring interfaces are designed on a switch supporting a wide temperature range to monitor the switch's components, including the maintenance compartment door, cabinet door, power supply, and backup power supply.

Purpose

The network management system (NMS) remotely monitors access devices based on real-time device level monitoring information of monitoring interfaces.

The S5720I-SI and S5735-S-I series switches are typically deployed outdoors and not maintained for a long time. If exceptions occur in the external environment of the switch, for example, the maintenance compartment door is opened unexpectedly, the cabinet door is opened unexpectedly, or the backup power supply is faulty, maintenance personnel cannot detect the fault in a timely manner. To solve this problem, the S5720I-SI and S5735-S-I series switches provide environment monitoring interfaces. Monitoring interfaces are connected to the door status sensor, cabinet door, and backup power supply to monitor the maintenance compartment door status, cabinet door status, and backup power supply voltage. If the maintenance compartment door, cabinet door, or backup power supply becomes abnormal, the switch sends a trap to the NMS, which then remotely monitors the working environment of the switch.
