Manually Switching to the VBST Mode

Context

When a port on a VBST-enabled switch is connected to an STP-enabled switch, the port automatically switches to the STP mode.

In the following cases, you need to switch the port back to the VBST mode manually:

  • The STP-enabled switch is shut down or disconnected.

  • The STP-enabled switch is switched to the RSTP/MSTP mode.

When a VBST-enabled switch connects to an MSTP-enabled switch, the connected port of the MSTP-enabled switch automatically switches to the RSTP mode through negotiation. When the VBST-enabled switch switches to the MSTP mode, the connected ports of the two switches may still work in RSTP mode due to the time sequence problem. You can perform the following operations to manually switch the ports to the MSTP mode.

Procedure

  • Switching a port to the VBST mode
    1. Run system-view

      The system view is displayed.

    2. Run interface interface-type interface-number

The view of the interface that participates in spanning tree calculation is displayed.

    3. Run stp mcheck

The port is switched to the VBST mode.
