When the topology of an MSTI changes, the forwarding path of the VLAN mapping the MSTI also changes. The MAC address entries and ARP entries relevant to the VLAN need to be updated. VBST provides the following convergence modes:
fast: The system directly deletes ARP entries to be updated.
normal: The system rapidly ages ARP entries to be updated.
In fast or normal mode, the system directly deletes MAC addresses.
The system view is displayed.
A convergence mode is configured.
By default, the VBST convergence mode of a port is normal.
normal is recommended. If fast is used, frequently deleting ARP entries may result in 100% CPU usage of the device. As a result, packets are not processed in a timely manner and network flapping occurs.
