The dhcpv6 snooping nd-detect enable command enables the association between ND detection and DHCPv6 snooping.
The undo dhcpv6 snooping nd-detect enable command disables the association between ND detection and DHCPv6 snooping.
By default, ND detection is not associated with DHCPv6 snooping.
Usage Scenario
When a client obtains an IPv6 address and goes offline unexpectedly, the client cannot send a DHCPv6 Release message to release the IPv6 address that has been applied for. As a result, IPv6 resources are wasted. To enable the association between ND detection and DHCPv6 snooping, run the dhcpv6 snooping nd-detect enable command.
After an association between ND detection and DHCPv6 snooping is configured, the device periodically deletes ND detection for the IPv6 address. If the system fails to detect a user within the specified number of times, the system deletes the DHCPv6 binding entry and constructs a DHCP Release message to instruct the DHCPv6 server to release the IPv6 address.Prerequisites
Run the dhcpv6 snooping enable command to enable DHCPv6 snooping globally.
Configuration Impact
After an association between ND detection and DHCPv6 snooping is configured, the device sends ND messages to detect users. As a result, the volume of ND traffic increases.
