management-channel mode

Function

The management-channel mode command sets the management channel mode of a FlexE physical interface.

The undo management-channel mode command restores the default management channel mode of a FlexE physical interface.

By default, the management channel mode is union.

This command is supported only on the NetEngine 8000 F2A.

Format

management-channel mode { union | section | shim-to-shim | shim-to-shim-op2 }

Usage Guidelines

Usage Scenario

To ensure normal communication between the interconnected devices, configure the same management channel mode for the physical interfaces in FlexE mode on the two devices.

Union mode: Management overhead packets occupy overhead blocks 4, 5, 7, and 8 in OH frames.
-Section mode: Management overhead packets occupy overhead blocks 4 and 5 in OH frames.
-Shim-to-shim mode: Management overhead packets occupy overhead blocks 7 and 8 in OH frames.
-Shim-to-shim-option2: Management overhead packets occupy overhead blocks 6, 7, and 8 in OH frames.

Precautions

After the ptp enable command is run on a FlexE physical interface, the management-channel mode shim-to-shim-op2 cannot be configured.
After the clock synchronization enable command is run on a FlexE physical interface, the management-channel mode shim-to-shim-op2 cannot be configured.
