Usage Guidelines

Usage Scenario

In the following situations, the release-agent command can be run to configure the device to send DHCPv6 Release packets to the server:

  • The device that provides the DHCPv6 relay agent functionality, not the client, needs to directly send Release packets to the DHCP server.
  • The client cannot send Release packets to the DHCPv6 server.

Configuration Impact

If the function of sending DHCPv6 Release packets is enabled, the device will automatically send a DHCPv6 Release packet to the DHCPv6 server when detecting that a user is offline.

Precautions

In VS mode, this command is supported only by the admin VS.

Example

# Disable the function of sending DHCPv6 Release packets on a DHCPv6 server group named remote.
<HUAWEI> system-view
[~HUAWEI] dhcpv6-server group remote
[*HUAWEI-dhcpv6-server-group-remote] undo release-agent
