Function

The reset forward-statistics packet discard command clears statistics about packets that have been discarded because the packets' destination MAC addresses are different from an interface's MAC address or the packets' sizes exceed the interface's MTU.

Format

reset forward-statistics packet discard [ mac | mtu ] [ ipv4 | ipv6 ] { interface { interface-type interface-number | interface-name } | slot slot-id }

Parameters

mac

Clears statistics about packets that have been discarded because the packets' destination MAC addresses are different from an interface's MAC address.

Clears statistics about packets that have been discarded because the packets' sizes exceed an interface's MTU.

Clears statistics about discarded IPv4 packets.

Clears statistics about discarded IPv6 packets.

Specifies an interface name.

Specifies an interface type and number. If no interface type is specified, statistics on all interfaces are cleared.

Usage Guidelines

Usage Scenario

During maintenance and fault locating, to collect accurate statistics about discarded packets within a specified period, run the reset forward-statistics packet discard command to clear the existing statistics. This configuration allows for a new round of statistics collection.

Configuration Impact

Statistics about discarded packets cannot be restored after they are cleared. Therefore, exercise caution when you run the reset forward-statistics packet discard command.
