Function

The set boot password command is used to set or change the password of the Boot menu.

Format

set boot password slot slot-id

Slot id.

The value is a string of 1 to 31 case-sensitive characters, spaces not supported.

Usage Guidelines

Usage Scenario

To set or modify the boot menu password of a device, run this command.

  1. The supported password length is 8-255.
  2. The password must contain at least two types of the following characters: Uppercase letters, lowercase letters, digits, and special characters.
  3. Special characters cannot contain question marks (?) or spaces.

Example

# Set or change the password of the Boot menu.
<HUAWEI> system-view
[~HUAWEI] set boot password slot 1
Please set a login password (8-255)
Enter password:
Confirm Password:
Info: Setting the boot password is successful.
[~HUAWEI] set boot password slot 1
Please set a login password (8-255)
