shaping

Function

The shaping command modifies the scheduling parameter for the use group queue.

The undo shaping command removes the modification.

By default, no PIR is set for the GQ. That is, traffic shaping is not performed.

Format

shaping shaping-value [ pbs pbs-value ] { inbound | outbound }

undo shaping { inbound | outbound }

Parameters

Parameter Description Value
shaping-value

Specifies the PIR value used for traffic shaping of the GQ.

The value is an integer ranging from 66 to 4294967294, in kbit/s.

pbs pbs-value

Specifies the value of the peak burst size (PBS), that is, the maximum volume of traffic that the interface can send after port shaping is configured.

It is an integer ranging from 64 to 2097152, in bytes. The maximum PBS cannot exceed the interface bandwidth.

inbound

Modifies the scheduling parameter for incoming traffic of the GQ.

-

Usage Guidelines

Usage Scenario

Traffic shaping parameters can be configured for CQs based on the network requirements to prevent burst traffic and allow the traffic to be transmitted at an even rate. This shaping command configures rate limit and traffic shaping for burst traffic.

The shaping value in this command should be more than the sum of the CIRs configured in the SQs using the corresponding GQ, otherwise the CIRs can no t be guaranteed.

Example

# Set the shaping rate to 600 kbit/s for incoming traffic of GQ named "test."
