snmp-agent trap

Function

The snmp-agent trap enable port command enables a device to generate alarms for CRC errors,SDH errors, input errors, output errors,tx-pause errors, or abnormal optical power of the optical module on interfaces.

The snmp-agent trap disable port command disables a device from generating alarms for CRC errors,SDH errors, input errors, output errors,tx-pause errors or abnormal optical power of the optical module on interfaces.

The undo snmp-agent trap disable port command enables a device from generating alarms for CRC errors,SDH errors, input errors, output errors,tx-pause errors, or abnormal optical power of the optical module on interfaces.

By default, alarms are generated for CRC errors,SDH errors, abnormal optical power of the optical module on interfaces.

Usage Guidelines

Usage Scenario

This command enables the function to generate and report an alarm to the NMS when errors occur on an interface. After this function is enabled, the device sends an alarm to the NMS if the number of errors of a specific type on the interface reaches the threshold set for that type of errors. An alarm can be generated for multiple types of errors on an interface, including CRC errors,SDH errors errors, abnormal optical power of the optical module.

Configuration Impact

If the alarm function is disabled, the system does not generate any alarm, no matter whether the number of errors exceeds or falls below the set threshold. The configuration takes effect on all physical ports supporting the alarm function.

Precautions

In VS mode, this command is supported only by the admin VS.

  • CRC alarms, output alarms, and input alarms are applicable to all Ethernet interfaces .
  • The snmp-agent trap disable port optical-module-abnormal command only disables a device from sending alarms generated due to optical module exceptions, or overhigh or overlow transmit or receive optical power.
