The standard-group mac-address suppression enable command enables traffic suppression for special reserved multicast groups.
The undo standard-group mac-address suppression enable command disables traffic suppression for special reserved multicast groups.
By default, the traffic suppression function is not enabled for special reserved multicast groups.
Usage Scenario
A growing number of special reserved multicast group packets in the broadcast domain consume a large amount of network resources(in Layer 2 multicast scenarios, the destination MAC address is 01:80:C2:xx:xx; in Layer 3 multicast scenarios, the destination IP address is 224.0.0.xxx/224.0.1.xxx), which degrades network performance. You can run the standard-group mac-address suppression enable command to enable traffic suppression for special reserved multicast groups to control the multicast traffic.
The standard-group mac-address suppression enable command takes effect only after the multicast-suppression command is configured. In VS mode, this command is supported only by the admin VS.
