The user-basic-service-ip-type command configures an IP address type by using which domain users can get online.
The undo user-basic-service-ip-type command restores the default configuration.
By default, users can get online by using an IP address whose IP type does not need to be specified.
This command is supported only on the NetEngine 8000 F1A.
Usage Scenario
During dual-stack user access, if the user-basic-service-ip-type command is run to configure the IP address type as IPv4 while IPv4 authorization is not granted to the user (The IPv4 address pool is not configured, the IPv4 address pool is unavailable or the IPv4 address delivered by the RADIUS server is unavailable) , user fails to go online from IPv6 stack. If user is given IPv4 authorization, while the end user performs only IP6CP negotiation without IPCP negotiation, then even after the IP6CP negotiation succeeds, the user will go offline because of IPv4 stack negotiation fails.
In a similar way, if the IP address type is set to IPv6 while no IPv6 authorization to users, the IPv4 user will fail to go online. If user is given IPv6 authorization, while the end user performs only IPCP negotiation without IP6CP negotiation, then even after the IPCP negotiation succeeds, the user will go offline because of IPv6 stack negotiation fails.Configuration Impact
When the user-basic-service-ip-type command is run, the address pool of a specified IP type must exist. For example, if the IPv6 type is specified, but an IPv6 address pool is not configured or IPv6 addresses are not assigned successfully, users cannot get online.
Precautions
