Basic MAP-T/MAP-E Architecture

The mapping address and port (MAP) technology combines stateless and dual translation and encapsulation techniques. The MAP technology allows for stateless reuse of addresses and ports. It is comprised of MAP-E and MAP-T techniques. MAP defines stateless address encapsulation and translation mechanisms when IPv4 and IPv6 services are carried over IPv6-only networks. MAP-CEs and a MAP-BR function as edge devices to define a MAP domain. IPv4 service flows exist outside the MAP domain.
