Configuring a Version File Server

Context

The version file server is used to store the files to be downloaded for an unconfigured device. On the one hand, the version file server needs to occupy a device's storage resources, and therefore the storage space needs to be considered when the version file server is used. On the other hand, a third-party server needs to be deployed on an SZTP network because Huawei devices cannot function as an HTTPS server. For configuration details, see the documentation of the third-party server.

There must be reachable routes between the version file server and unconfigured device.

Procedure

  1. Select a version file server as the HTTPS server.
  2. Configure an IP address and a gateway address for the version file server.

Follow-up Procedure

After configuring the version file server, save version files to the version file server.

To ensure the security of the version file server and prevent unauthorized modification, you are advised to configure a unique username for the version file server and assign read-only permission to the user. After the SZTP process is complete, disable the corresponding version file server function.
