(Optional) Configuring PW APS

This section describes how to configure PW APS, so that an active/standby PW switchover can be performed if a PW fails.

Application Scenario

This chapter applies only to the NetEngine 8000 F1A.

On a network where a PW protection group is configured, you can configure PW APS to ensure that if one PW in the protection group fails, the other PW takes over to forward traffic. To accelerate PW fault detection, configure MPLS OAM or MPLS-TP OAM.

Perform the following steps on the PEs at both ends of a PW:

Procedure

  1. Configure PW APS.
    1. Run system-view

      The system view is displayed.

    2. Run pw-aps apsId

A PW APS instance is created.

    3. (Optional) Run description text

A description is configured for the PW APS instance.

    4. Run quit

      Return to the system view.

    5. Run interface interface-type interface-number

The view of the AC interface configured with a PW protection group is displayed.

    6. Run mpls l2vpn pw-aps apsId { admin | reference }

The PW protection group is bound to the PW APS instance.

    7. Run quit

      Return to the system view.

    8. Run commit

      The configuration is committed.

  2. Configure PW OAM to detect PW faults.

    • Configure MPLS OAM to detect PW faults.
      1. Run system-view

        The system view is displayed.

      2. Run mpls

        The MPLS view is displayed.

      3. Run mpls oam

        MPLS OAM is enabled globally.

      4. Run quit

        Return to the system view.

      5. Run mpls-oam

The MPLS OAM view is displayed.

      6. Run mpls oam l2vc peer-ip peer-ip vc-id vc-id vc-type vc-type [remote-peer-ip remote-peer-ip remote-vc-id remote-vc-id remote-vc-type remote-vc-type ] type { cv | ffd frequency ffd-fre } [ auto-protocol [ overtime overtime ] ]

MPLS OAM parameters are set on both ends of the PW.

      7. Run mpls oam l2vc enable { send | receive } { all | peer-ip peer-ip vc-id vc-id vc-type vc-type }

OAM is enabled on the PW endpoint.

      8. Run quit

        Return to the system view.

      9. Run commit

        The configuration is committed.

    • Configure MPLS-TP OAM to detect PW faults.
      1. Run system-view

        The system view is displayed.

      2. Run mpls-tp meg meg-name

A MEG is created, and its view is displayed.

      3. Run me l2vc peer-ip peer-ip vc-id vc-id vc-type vc-type [ remote-peer-ip remote-peer-ip | ttl ttl-number ] mep-id mep-id remote-mep-id remote-mep-id

An ME instance is configured and bound to the PW.

      4. Run cc send enable

The local end is enabled to send CC/CV packets.

      5. Run cc receive enable

The local end is enabled to receive CC/CV packets.

      6. Run quit

        Return to the system view.

      7. Run commit

        The configuration is committed.
