SR-MPLS TE Tunnel Reliability

In addition to TI-LFA FRR, the hot standby technology is also used to improve SR-MPLS TE tunnel reliability.

SR-MPLS TE Hot-Standby Protection

In hot standby mode, after the primary LSP is created, an LSP that is always in the hot-standby state is created immediately, providing end-to-end traffic protection for the entire LSP.

In Figure 1, hot-standby protection is configured on the ingress node A, so that a hot-standby LSP is created immediately after the primary LSP is created on node A. In this way, two LSPs exist in the same SR-MPLS TE tunnel. When the ingress detects that the primary LSP fails, traffic is switched to the hot-standby LSP; when the primary LSP recovers, traffic is switched back to it. During this process, the SR-MPLS TE tunnel is always up.
