TWAMP Light application on an L3 VXLAN
On the L3 VXLAN shown in Figure 1, DeviceA functions as the Responder and is deployed on the last hop of the link connected to a base station. It only responds to test session packets. DeviceB functions as the Controller and is deployed on the aggregation node. It sends and receives test session packets, collects and calculates performance data, and sends the results to the performance management system.
You can deploy TWAMP Light on an L3 VXLAN as follows:
- Configure the control-client on the Controller to create a TWAMP Light test session.
- Specify the Responder as the Session-Reflector.
- Specify the Controller as the Session-Sender to initiate a performance measurement test so that the Controller sends TWAMP test packets to the Responder.
After receiving the TWAMP test packets reflected by the Responder, the Controller calculates performance statistics, such as two-way packet loss, delay, and jitter, and reports the statistics to the performance management system. You can obtain the statistics on the UI of the performance management system.
