LAD Application in Multi-Neighbor Networking

Networking Description

In multi-neighbor networking, devices are connected over an unknown network, and each device interface connects to one or more neighbors. In Figure 1, DeviceA, DeviceB, and DeviceC are connected over a Layer 2 virtual private network (L2VPN). Devices on the L2VPN may have Link Automatic Discovery (LAD) disabled or may not need to be managed by the NMS, but they can still transparently transmit LAD packets. DeviceA has two neighbors, DeviceB and DeviceC.

Feature Deployment

After enabling Link Automatic Discovery (LAD) on DeviceA, administrators can use the NMS to obtain Layer 2 configurations of DeviceA, DeviceB, and DeviceC, get a detailed network topology, and determine whether a configuration conflict exists. LAD helps ensure security and stability for network communication.
